A complete Himalayan journey across valleys, cultures, and high mountain passes.

Introduction

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s classic long-distance Himalayan journeys, known for its dramatic landscapes, cultural diversity, and the crossing of the high mountain pass of Thorong La (5,416 m). Opened to trekkers in the early 1980s, the route circles the Annapurna massif and offers a rare opportunity to experience the changing geography, climate, and cultures of the central Himalaya in a single journey.

The trail passes through deep river valleys, alpine forests, high-altitude deserts, and glacial landscapes, gradually transitioning from subtropical terrain to the arid trans-Himalayan region of Mustang. Along the way, trekkers walk through traditional villages inhabited by Gurung, Thakali, and Tibetan-influenced communities, where ancient monasteries, prayer flags, mani walls, and local traditions reflect a strong Buddhist and Himalayan cultural heritage.

The trek offers wide-ranging mountain views, including peaks from the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, as well as Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli, Lamjung Himal, and Tukuche Peak. Key highlights include the Marsyangdi Valley, the culturally rich town of Manang, the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath, and the wind-swept Kali Gandaki Valley leading to Jomsom. The route also features apple orchards, high pastures, waterfalls, and varied terrain shaped by altitude and weather.

Carefully paced and well-established, the Annapurna Circuit Trek offers a balanced Himalayan experience that combines adventure, cultural immersion, and natural beauty. With experienced local guidance and thoughtful planning, Expedition Himalaya presents this trek as a rewarding journey for trekkers seeking a complete and varied Himalayan adventure.
