A seamless Himalayan journey from forested valleys to glacier viewpoints.
Introduction
The Langtang Valley Trek offers a refined Himalayan experience that combines classic mountain trekking with enhanced comfort and efficiency. Located within Langtang National Park, just north of Kathmandu, this journey leads through forested river valleys, traditional Tamang villages, and wide alpine landscapes beneath snow-covered peaks. The region’s close proximity to the capital makes it accessible, while its dramatic scenery and cultural depth give it a true sense of Himalayan remoteness.
The trail follows the Langtang River through rhododendron and bamboo forests before opening into high mountain terrain shaped by glaciers and steep valley walls. As elevation increases, views of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m) and surrounding peaks dominate the landscape. The trek reaches its cultural and geographic heart at Kyanjin Gompa, a historic mountain settlement set beneath glaciers and sacred ridgelines.
This itinerary is thoughtfully designed to balance walking days with acclimatization and scenic exploration, including ascents to panoramic viewpoints such as Kyanjin Ri and Tsergo Ri. The journey concludes with a scenic helicopter flight from Kyanjin Village back to Kathmandu, offering a striking aerial perspective of the Langtang range while avoiding retracing the trail.
With experienced local guides, careful pacing, and a focus on comfort and safety, Expedition Himalaya presents this Langtang Valley Trek as an ideal choice for travelers seeking an immersive Himalayan journey—rich in scenery, culture, and high-mountain atmosphere—without unnecessary strain or extended travel days.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,330 m / 4,364 ft)
Arrive in Kathmandu, where the Expedition Himalaya team welcomes you and assists with a smooth transfer to your hotel. The day is kept relaxed to recover from international travel. You may enjoy the quiet surroundings of your hotel or take a gentle stroll nearby to ease into Nepal’s atmosphere.
Day 2: Drive to Syabrubesi (1,470 m / 4,823 ft)
The journey to the Langtang region begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. The route follows winding mountain roads through river valleys, terraced hillsides, and traditional villages. As the road climbs north, the landscape gradually shifts from urban surroundings to forested slopes and Himalayan foothills, offering glimpses of distant peaks along the way. Syabrubesi sits at the edge of Langtang National Park and serves as the gateway to the Langtang Valley.
Day 3: Trek to Lama Hotel (2,480 m / 8,136 ft)
The trek begins along the Langtang River, following well-established trails through dense forest. Bamboo groves and rhododendron trees create a sheltered and peaceful environment. The gradual ascent allows for comfortable acclimatization while offering a sense of immersion into the national park’s natural setting.
Trek to Langtang Village (3,430 m / 11,253 ft)
As the trail climbs higher, the valley opens and the forest thins. Traditional Tamang villages appear along the route, with stone houses, prayer wheels, and mani walls reflecting Tibetan Buddhist heritage. Langtang Village sits in a wide alpine basin beneath towering peaks, offering expansive views and a strong sense of place.
Day 5: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m / 12,697 ft)
The trek to Kyanjin Gompa is steady and scenic, passing open pastures and glacial streams. Snow-covered peaks and icefalls dominate the skyline as you approach the cultural heart of the valley. Kyanjin Gompa is home to an ancient monastery and lies beneath the dramatic north face of Langtang Lirung.
Day 6: Acclimatization & Exploration – Hike to Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m / 15,659 ft)
A carefully planned acclimatization day includes a short but rewarding hike to Kyanjin Ri. From the summit, panoramic views extend across Langtang Lirung, Yala Peak, and surrounding glaciers. The remainder of the day is reserved for rest, photography, and quiet time in the village.
Helicopter Flight from Kyanjin Village to Kathmandu (1,330 m / 4,364 ft)
A helicopter flight lifts you directly from Kyanjin Village, offering a spectacular aerial farewell to the Langtang Valley. Glaciers, ridgelines, and deep valleys unfold beneath you before returning to Kathmandu. The remainder of the day is free for rest, dining, or reflection on the journey.

Good!
Exellent guide for solo trekking. The flexibility of the programm was good and everything worked with Expedition Himalaya.
Awesome experience.
This is a one in a lifetime experience, to one of the most remote areas of the world. The whole journey was breathtaking and an excellent experience. We were unfortunate with the weather at the end but that is mountain life. Himalayan experience worked tirelessly to organise helicopter flights off the mountain, along with the other 2000 people stranded at Lukla airport. Big thanks to Ian Pallister for organising this for us. Pasan our lead guide, and Lapa our junior guide. I would thoroughly recommend this company if you want to complete Everest Base camp and other adventures.
Tibet2025_Zanardi
We were a group of 4 family members traveling to Tibet through Kathmandu. EH organized the perfect trip for us. All guides and drivers were excellent from all points of view: professional, friendly, experienced, thoughtful, flexible, reliable, respectful. Prabeen was our guide in Kathmandu. Dawa Sherpa flew with us from Kathmandu to Lhasa and carefully orchestrated every single detail of our Tibet tour, including shopping for picnics in late evenings and last-minute helicopter arrangements. Tashi is THE guide you want in Tibet: all the adjectives above, plus much more, and always in harmony with Dawa for daily decisions. Driver Tsering is simply amazing: great driver, improvised porter, strong communicator with gazes and gestures (not English speaking). We ended up with the feeling of traveling in a group of 7 family members for 2 weeks. The tour included the Kailash kora, up to 5630 mt altitude. EH organized it carefully, so that we arrived acclimatized and suffered a minimum. EH co-owner (with Dawa) Nabin met us personally multiple times in Kathmandu before the Tibet tour and after it, for briefing and farewell. And Niren has been in constant contact with us, in person and by phone. I strongly recommend EH for adventure accompanied by safety and special treats.
